Cruise like a Norwegian, Haven style

October 17, 2013 was one of the most memorable days of my life because it’s the day my twins were born. The first few days after their birth while recovering in the hospital were a blur but I clearly remember the day the Breakaway sailed past our hospital window while my husband and I were holding our new bundles of joy. My husband turned to me and said “It’s a sign, we need to cruise on that ship when these little ones are old enough”. I dismissed it because I didn’t really know much about NCL. We are avid cruisers but never once thought to book with them. However, I am so glad we gave Norwegian Cruise line a chance. We decided it would be a great way to celebrate my 30th birthday so we booked a sailing to Bermuda that would mean we were away for my actual birthday. Because it was a milestone, my husband surprised me by booking the Haven by Norwegian experience. Now I can’t imagine traveling any other way! It was already a convenient port to leave from since we live in New Jersey. We didn’t have to fly with our then almost 8 month old twins. Haven gets you priority embarkation and debarkation. That’s always a nice perk but when traveling with small kids it’s a life saver. We walked right on the boat without waiting in any lines and our vacation began. The perks of the Haven seem limitless. An NCL rep said it best when they told me it was like having a luxury yacht experience with all the large cruise ship amenities. They weren’t kidding! There is an exclusive Haven area with a private swimming pool, separate restaurant with the most delicious food on the ship, 24/7 concierge access and a butler. Our butler and cabin steward were so attentive, they knew it was my birthday and decorated the room for me without anyone in my family even asking them to. It made turning the big 3-0 that much more special. The room itself was magnificent. The balcony was large enough to push 2 strollers around and still have room for other people to sit or lounge. Now is an amazing time to b ook this experience. NCL is running a promotion where you get a free Ultimate Beverage Package, Free Ultimate Dining in their specialty restaurants, $300 in onboard credit, 3-8 guest sail free and prepaid gratuities for the first and second guest. We loved it so much we booked the exact same room on The Getaway in May. I can’t wait to cruise like a Norwegian again!
