Disney Express Transportation
On a recent trip to Walt Disney World I discovered something amazing. We were only at Disney for three days and already felt pressed for time…but magically Disney had a solution in which we were able to maximize every minute of our time! I’d like to introduce you to Disney’s Express Transportation!
At first I wasn’t so sure about spending the $29 per person fee but it turned out to be a great investment. My parents are in their mid-sixties and park hopping with a teenager along with their daughter who is a runner, can be taxing for them to say the least. Express Transportation saved my parents legs and sanity throughout our three days at Disney!
For example, while at Animal Kingdom on a busy Sunday evening my mom and I found ourselves by Tusker House viewing what we could see of the floating Avatar mountains to the south. We realized we were exhausted from our early start of traveling but not quite ready to call it a day. The main gate of Animal Kingdom seemed so far away to our weary feet but Disney had the solution. Luckily for us the check in for Express Transportation was so close by, we couldn’t pass it up. Plus, we wanted to see if it was worth our money.
The Express Transportation signs are visibly marked and attended by the most courteous and well-dressed Disney cast members. All we had to do is let the agent know which park we wished to go to and as he scanned my magic band, he let us know the arrival time of the bus. Once the bus was in route he walked us to the backlot where our Magic Kingdom bus was waiting. We had the entire bus to ourselves and we were off the Magic Kingdom in record time! Honestly, it was a surreal experience. We did not have to go through the main gate and security yet again after already being screened previously at the Animal Kingdom.
Needless to say, after the awesome experience to the Magic Kingdom and being deposited behind Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, we were hooked! We utilized Express Transportation at every opportunity and never regretted the $29 per person fee. I can’t stress enough how bypassing the main entrance saved us so much time. Here are a few things to note about Express Transportation:
- It can only be purchased with the Park Hopper Option or Annual Pass Holders
- A single day ticket is $19 per person and a muti-day ticket is $29 per person and is valid for up to seven consecutive days
- It only runs from park to park…so after your initial main entrance through security, you can then take advantage of the service. No resort drop offs
- It’s available inside the parks from 10am – to closing
- Check in at Magic Kingdom near the exit of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin; at Epcot on the east side of Spaceship Earth; Hollywood Studios in the courtyard in front of Rock’n’Roller; and in the Animal Kingdom near Kilimanjaro Safari
