Mainstreet Bakery Copycat Rice Treats

Last week, I met with a client to talk about their itinerary for Disney. We talked about everything from how to use their Fast Passes and the Disability Access Pass to how to use their snack credits. I gave them advice about any unused snack credits… buy treats to bring home as souvenirs!

It never fails that we wind up with a few snack credits and I love to visit the Mainstreet Bakery in Magic Kingdom to use them. The large windows of the bakery allow everyone who passes by to see the cases of amazing character-themed rice treats and candy apples. You can use snacks credit on most of those amazing treats!

Everyone misses Disney World when they come home. It is fun to have a special rice treat or candy apple as a family while you reminisce about the fun times. But what if you are in a Disney mood but don’t have the special souvenirs? Make your own!

I used the basic recipe on the back of the Rice Krispies cereal box. I also enlisted wax paper to make forming the treats a little easier and way less messy. I used one sheet of wax paper on the bottom of a sheet pan and poured the sticky cereal mixture on top. I then used a second sheet of wax paper to lay on top and then worked the mixture into a flat(ish) square shape. I let this set for about an hour and then made the shapes

I bought a metal Mickey Mouse cookie cutter from Amazon. The metal edges made it easier to cut through the rice treats. Look how cute they are!

And from here, it’s time to decorate. My family used the color theme of your basic Mickey Mouse. But you could go with so many decorative themes like orange and black for Halloween, Christmas colors, or princess themed colors.

My family had fun making and eating the treats. I’d love for you make some with your family and then tag me on Facebook on my 101 Dream Vacations with BethAnn page.

Enjoy!
