Disney Genie has arrived at Walt Disney World
There are 3 parts to the Genie service, which are all found in the MyDisneyExperience app. The Genie service itself is complimentary and can be accessed in the app by anyone with a MyDisneyExperience account. Within the Genie section of the app, those with a park reservation and valid theme park admission can then purchase and use the Genie+ service as well as purchase Individual Attraction Selections. With these purchases, guests are able to use the Lightning Lane instead of the regular standby queue.
Is the Genie+ the same as the previous FastPass+ system? The Genie+ and the Individual Attraction Selections are the two replacements for FastPass+ but work a bit differently.
The Genie+ option is available for $15 per day per ticket holder. It can be purchased each day of your valid theme park admission or added in advance to your vacation package or ticket purchase. The Individual Attraction Selections are premium attractions not included in the Genie+ and carry their own separate price per ride. With both services, guests are able to use the Lightning Lane entrance for a shorter wait than the standby line.
With my kids as my assistants, we used the Genie+ service throughout 3 parks over 2 days and loved it! We were able to ride a bunch of very popular rides that we might not have had time to do using only the standby lines. 7 AM is the magic hour to start scheduling your Genie+ selections and if you are a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort or other select hotels then you can purchase/schedule your first Individual Attraction Selection time as well. You will be on your phone a bit more throughout the day so be sure to bring a backup battery source.
